Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air Conditioning Europe (MHIAE) has expanded its award-winning KXZ3 2-pipe VRF series with the launch of seven new medium and large-capacity models, now available in sizes up to 67.0 kW. With the option to combine units to meet system capacities of up to 201 kW, the extended lineup significantly strengthens MHIAE’s offering for large commercial buildings seeking high-efficiency, low-GWP solutions that deliver robust performance and reliability.

Award-winning

The KXZ3 series has already attracted global recognition, picking up a Platinum Award at the A’ Design Awards 2025 and an Australian Good Design Award, impressing judges with its modern styling, compact footprint and improved Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). These early accolades highlight the KXZ3 platform’s strong design foundations and its ability to meet the evolving expectations of consultants, installers and building owners.

Reduced environmental impact
The new models reinforce the KXZ3 series’ focus on reducing environmental impact. The full range now utilises R32 refrigerant, which has a GWP of 675 – around one-third of the previous generation. To maximise efficiency, all systems incorporate the patented Variable Temperature and Capacity Control (VTCC+) technology (registered in Japan), which automatically adjusts refrigerant pressure in line with indoor load conditions. This ensures highly accurate temperature control while delivering notable energy savings, and without compromising noise levels, KXZ3 offers 4 silent modes reducing sound pressure levels to 47dB(A)[1].

Enhanced reliability
Reliability and operational stability have also been enhanced. The latest models introduce a newly developed scroll compressor featuring liquid injection, an improved oil-return structure, and an optimised discharge-port design, all of which contribute to smoother operation and increased durability. A new high-density heat exchanger further improves performance, allowing for a smaller unit footprint and a reduced refrigerant charge, vital to mitigate the need of safety measures and reduce overall project cost. In addition, refinements to airflow management increase seasonal efficiency and provide higher external static pressure, supporting more complex ducted installations across a variety of commercial environments.

Equipped with a new hot gas defrost mode, these KXZ3 models are capable of delivering heating even while in defrost mode, enabling the units to continue operating in temperatures well below freezing  delivering a more constant, comfortable indoor environment.

Flexible system design

The KXZ3 range extends system capacity up to 201 kW and introduces two unique new sizes – 61.5 kW and 67 kW. Offering a wide selection of compatible indoor units, including cassette, ducted, and wall-mounted options, as well as a full suite of optional safety measures, the KXZ3 series gives HVAC engineers greater flexibility when designing systems for offices, hotels, schools, hospitals, and large mixed-use developments.

The combination of low-GWP refrigerant, flexible system design, advanced control technology, improved reliability and simplified serviceability ensures the updated KXZ3 range provides an efficient, future-ready VRF solution for today’s commercial building landscape.

Simple Servicing

MHIAE has also placed a strong emphasis on serviceability and on-site convenience. Access to the control box and major refrigeration components is now easily managed from the front of the unit, making installation and maintenance quicker and more straightforward. Engineers benefit from enhanced monitoring features that enable accurate analysis of operational data, including the ability to retrieve data up to 180 minutes before an issue occurs using the MenteSP app (compatible Android devices).

MHIAE is committed to building on the advanced technology and vast experience of its parent company to deliver innovative, integrated solutions that will help realise a carbon neutral world, improve the quality of life, and ensure a safer world.https://mhiae.com/
