As part of Croydon Council’s on-going commitment to create more primary school places, The Robert Fitzroy Academy in Davidson Road, central Croydon is being fitted with Zehnder Multicolumn radiators.

Reviewing the specification of the heating system at the school, Pawel Monasterski, Mechanical Design Engineer at Aktins explains: “The Zehnder Multicolumn radiator was the ideal choice for this refurbishment. Given the Victorian construction date of the building, the classic design and timeless elegance of the Zehnder Multicolumn radiator provides a perfect fit with the surroundings. Its high heat emissions also ensure a comfortable indoor climate for the pupils.”

In addition to the aesthetic and efficiency advantages of the Zehnder Multicolumn radiator, it also provides important functional benefits. Being manufactured from steel it is extremely robust and durable which makes it ideal for use in an educational setting and with no sharp edges or corners, the risk of injury is reduced.

Pawel adds: “Another key factor on this project was cost. The competitive price of the Zehnder Multicolumn made it an attractive option, then added to this we were also able to reduce our installation costs by specifying the Zehnder Multicolumn Completto”. An option in the Multicolumn range, the Completto has a factory installed control valve (type UNI-A) built into its top connection element which enables the radiator to be installed quickly and simply, reducing time spent on site and offering additional assistance where budgets are tight.

Fitted within the newly refurbished ‘Block C’ of the school, the Zehnder Multicolumn Completto radiators are specified for installation throughout the remainder of the building, and will be installed as the refurbishment moves forward.
