A variety of LED luminaires from Zumtobel have been used as part of a major refurbishment of H1, a 200,000 sq. ft. office facility formally known as Seafield House, in Aberdeen.  The project has also incorporated emergency lighting and lighting controls from Zumtobel’s vast product portfolio. Owned by European Property Company, Kennedy Wilson Europe Real Estate (KWE), the area known as ‘Hill of Rubislaw’ is a key business hub in Aberdeen’s West End and is home to a number of blue chip companies.

The refurbishment of H1 has seen the unveiling of a new multi-function reception area which has a ‘New York’ loft apartment feel, with steel grey posts, wooden floors and a Hunter Douglas wooden ceiling. The outer walls incorporate large floor to ceiling glass windows to further enhance the feeling of space.   Zumtobel’s Slotlight Infinity LED was chosen for the reception and lift lobby area as it creates an excellent, continuous flow of light with no shadows, that complementing the unique design of the space.    Slotlight Infinity has been recessed into the linear wood panel reception ceiling to provide an eye catching, streamlined strip of uniform light.   The seamless stream of light has also been used externally, where Slotlight II with IP54 rating has been continued into the external canopy along with the wooden ceiling that can be seen through both sides of the large glass reception windows. This has given an illusion of even more space and created stunning aesthetics.

Other areas included in the project were the main office floor space utilising Zumtobel’s recessed Mellowlight V LED 600×600 fittings incorporating daylight controls, in addition to Panos Q square LED downlights in office breakout areas and toilets.   All of the lighting controls used are Zumtobel’s Litecom, an APP based lighting management control system and emergency lighting used is Resclite, Artsign and Puresign.
