BISPA (Building and Industrial Services Pipework Academy), recently held their first dedicated Pipework Awareness Workshops, at the Building Centre, London.

The workshops were specifically developed to help educate London end-users and specifiers on the importance of ensuring correct pipework specifications, and the risks relating to corrosion of stainless steels within mixed metal systems.

Using a mix of traditional classroom based lectures and hands on Virtual Reality (VR), attendees discovered the latest developments in pipework specifications, pipework installation, galvanic corrosion and pipework BIM and VR.

BISPA-in-London brought together a number of leading industry experts from Tata Steel, Loughborough University, Cranfield University and the Galvanisers Association to speak at the sessions.

This was the first of many proposed regular pipework awareness courses to be held by BISPA-in-London. “Incorrect pipework specifications continue to be used within building service projects, resulting in incorrect or poor quality materials being supplied.” Said Dr. Faisal Durrani, BISPA Manager. He went on to say “BISPA was specifically established to address this and to improve the awareness of pipework related issues, innovations and BIM”.
