In a policy announced last week, The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband, has given permission for Ofgem to over-allocate vouchers by up to £50 million in this financial year, to a total of up to £200 million for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

The Heat Pump Association (HPA) said: “The HPA has been closely monitoring the remaining budget of the Schemes, as reported on the Ofgem website. In the past few months, we have been engaging with the team at DESNZ to flag the budgetary concern and are pleased to see that swift action has been taken by the Government to prevent a hiatus in the market.”

Hamid Salimi, national product manager – Residential at Daikin (pictured above) said: “Daikin welcomes Ed Miliband’s decision to allow Ofgem to over-allocate BUS vouchers for heat pumps this financial year. This decision gives much needed certainty to the industry and will allow thousands of homeowners to install low carbon heating.”
