The low carbon heat and energy efficiency elements of the All-Energy/Dcarbonise Virtual Summit have been unveiled by Reed Exhibitions. Thursday 5 November features Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands in a ‘Meet the Minister’ session, followed first by an update on Energy Efficient Scotland, and then ‘Energy Efficient Scotland: Solutions & The Future’ both sponsored by the Scottish Government. Registration for these, and five other compelling webinars in the Virtual Summit, is open at https://forum.all-energy.co.uk/category/webinars/upcoming-webinars/

At 09:00 Minister on 5 November Minister Paul Wheelhouse MSP will set the scene with a keynote address at the start of this webinar and be on hand for a brief time to answer questions, In a session chaired by Ragne Low, Head of Heat Planning and Delivery, Scottish Government the audience will also hear from those concerned directly with policy and strategy; and from those determined to move the dial to ensure ever-greater levels of energy efficiency and use of low carbon heat.

Heating buildings is responsible for a significant proportion of Scotland’s emissions.  As such, work to make homes and buildings of all sorts more energy efficient and to transition heating systems to renewable or low carbon sources is critical speakers from Mott MacDonald, the Highland Council and from NHS National Services Scotland will explore what has been done and what is on the agenda.

The Energy Efficient Scotland programme builds on existing legislation and programmes that are already supporting the improvement of the energy efficiency of homes, businesses and public buildings, as well as the work done with local authorities to develop Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategies (LHEES). Dcarbonise, which in normal times is co-located with All-Energy the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon exhibition and conference, reflects these aims and also includes the Smart Urban Mobility Solutions (SUMS) low carbon transport conference stream and display of vehicles.

From policy and strategy to solutions

The second session ‘Energy Efficient Scotland: Solutions & The Future’ (11:30 on 5 November), chaired by Suzanne LeMiere, Head of Heat Policy, Heat Strategy Unit, Consumers and Low Carbon, Scottish Government will home in on solutions.

First up will be the Low Carbon Infrastructure Transition Programme (LCITP) which supports Scotland’s transition to a low-carbon economy. It provides a range of support, from expert advice to financial support to assist the development and delivery of private, public and community low-carbon projects across Scotland  Its main focus is assisting projects to develop investment-grade business cases and providing capital funding that will help secure public and private match finance to demonstrate innovative low-carbon technologies. Carole Stewart, Team Leader for Low Carbon Infrastructure, Scottish Government will speak of successes, lessons learned and LCITP’s future focus

Warmworks, who deliver the Scottish Government’s nationwide energy efficiency scheme, Warmer Homes Scotland, will update the audience on insulation, efficient heating and renewable technologies in the homes of households who are struggling with the cost of high energy bills. Next up will be Energy Saving Trust with information in plenty on their advice and support programmes followed by Zero Waste Scotland who will talk about the SME Loans Programme. All will be sharing those all-important ‘lessons learned’ and success stories.
Successful webinar series
