Meet your responsibilities

The Lighting Association has joined forces with WEEE Lite to offer a comprehensive solution that will help not only LA members, but the whole of the lighting industry to meet its environmental responsibilities – The LA Compliance Scheme.

The collaboration will offer a range of options not currently provided by the leading producer compliance schemes servicing the UK’s lighting industry. It aims to bring improved environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility and cost effectiveness for producers, distributors, retailers, business end users and consumers. Members of the Lighting Association will benefit from additional discounts when joining the LA Compliance Scheme.

The official launch of the new service took place in January. A series of seminars are also planned that will provide delegates with the opportunity of testing their company’s WEEE compliance strategy and to find out if the UK Battery legislation will affect their business operations.

The introduction of the Battery Regulations in the UK and the updated WEEE Regulations came into force on 1 January 2010 and the first task for LA Compliance is to ensure members are fully aware of the impact and opportunities the legislation will bring.

A new website will also go live featuring information on The LA Compliance Scheme, the latest on the WEEE regulation and other helpful information. There will also be the opportunity to take the WEEE & Battery Challenges to obtain fully priced quotes for WEEE & Battery Compliance. This will be backed up by a series of leaflets fully explaining The LA Compliance Scheme and its benefits to members.
