Kershaw scores an ace

Kershaw Mechanical Services has won the contract to install full mechanical services in the brand new Edgbaston International Tennis Centre.

This state-of-the-art facility replaces an existing building, and will comprise an indoor tennis centre with six courts, changing rooms, physiotherapy room, training room, viewing gallery at first floor level, reception area and administration offices. The adjacent Priory Club House, consisting of club house, squash courts, gym and members’ lounges, will combine partial refurbishment with new build.

A cutting edge Information Technology and Communications (ITC) suite will also be incorporated into the new centre to enhance its TV broadcasting activities.  Each year it hosts the top professional, female tennis players in the run up to Wimbledon who play at Edgbaston in televised matches, and year round, top household names in tennis give interviews around big events in the tennis calendar.

The mechanical work involves a standalone complex, complete with plant room, providing heating, gas, and hot and cold water to the internal spine of the building, housing the changing rooms, physiotherapy room, reception and offices, and a 24-burner ambient radiant heating system with passive vent, providing timed temperature control to each of the six individual tennis courts.

This project, again, sees Kershaw working in partnership with main contractor Morgan Sindall and is due for completion ready for the start of the 2013 domestic tennis season.
