ELCO Heating Solutions (ELCO) has supplied four TRIGON®XXL boilers, 80 Nexus Dual Stage CombinedHeat Interface Units (HIUs) and a 10,000L thermal store to the historical Regent’s Crescent, London. As part of a major residential refurbishment, the development comprises 67 grade I listed apartments, nine villas, swimming pool and spa; all of which required a robust and highly efficient heating and hot water system.

ELCO’s TRIGON®XXL boilers and HIUswere specified for the project by Midgard in order to provide a comprehensive system, delivering highly efficient heating and instantaneous bulk hot water production within the complex. The main contractors for the project were Ark Mechanical and Electrical, which specialises in providing a complete M&E solution for large complex residential projects.

Commenting on the installation, Titus Hall, mechanical project manager at Ark M&E said: “The entire installation process of all of the units was really simple and straightforward, especially for a project of this scope. Plus, the after sales team at ELCO provided great technical support and customer service throughout.”

Each TRIGON®XXL unit utilises a stainless steel heat exchanger and optimised combustion system to achieve ultra-low NOx emissions. This was an essential feature for the Regent’s Crescent project to ensure air quality is not affected in the capital, while the boilers’ gross seasonal efficiencies of up to 95.9%* are delivering a reliable and robust lifetime performance. The boilers are connected to ELCO’s Nexus Dual Stage Combined HIUs, which provide heating and cooling outputs up to 20kW, along with large volumes of instantaneous DHW up to 150kW – perfect for premium Regent’s Crescent residential apartments. In addition, all the HIUs benefit from an optimised SWEP stainless steel heat exchanger, while electronic PID controls and sensors ensure comfortable temperatures for the residents in the deluxe accommodation.

Another major benefit of the TRIGON® XXL boiler is its low water content design, which ensures it can respond rapidly to today’s complex heating system requirements – especially when combining multiple heat sources. This low water content also ensures the units have a small footprint, meaning the TRIGON® XXL can be utilised in a wide range of commercial applications. In addition, models can be disassembled into component parts due to their modular construction, offering far greater flexibility where access is tight.

Andreea Manoiu, national sales manager at ELCO Heating Solutions added: “We’re delighted that this prestigious residential development has benefited from ELCO’s dynamic and ultra-efficient TRIGON®XXL and HIUs. The project required units with extremely low NOx emissions, which made the TRIGON®XXL boilers the ideal choice; plus, by combining them with the HIUs, residents are able to enjoy the complete ELCO heating experience.”

To ensure the project was completed successfully and to the highest standards, the ELCO after sales team played a major role. Commenting on the project, Lead Engineer, Graham Cook, said: “As far as residential projects go, this was one of the best I’ve been involved in. The specification was incredibly high throughout, and the products supplied by ELCO are no exception; they are incredibly efficient and durable, ensuring residents at the properties can reply on them for many years to come.”

The TRIGON® XXL is available in ‘ECO’ and ‘EVO’ versions, which combine to present 29 different models in total. The ‘ECO’ models deliver excellent efficiencies and minimal energy consumption, with outputs from 650kW to 1600kW.Topping the TRIGON XXL range is the ‘EVO’ model, which offers the ‘best of both’ thanks to high power outputs alongside excellent efficiencies.
