Efficient heating for Elmwood School
Elmwood Special School in Walsall is a dedicated school that caters for children between the ages of 11 and 16 who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. As part of the refurbishment seen within the school, Smith’s Environmental Products supplied 15 Caspian units which were fitted in the school’s sports hall.
Steven Butcher, of Cameron Butcher Facilities Limited who managed the installation, stated that the school were looking for an efficient, cost effective heating system that could be part of the refurbishment: “The Caspian fan convectors were chosen as they are robust and the school felt that the price of the units was more competitive than similar products in the market.”
Before the refurbishment, the only heating within the school was in the form of cast-iron radiators which took up more space than the Caspian units and were also less energy efficient.
Steven added that there were no complications during the installation process and that the school was delighted with the new heating system: “The Caspians look much nicer than the previous heat emitters and in general fitted in with the refurbishment more than radiators. The school will now also benefit from remote temperature sensors, which mean that the heating can be controlled remotely instead of solely on the units themselves.”
Fan convectors are low surface temperature heating appliances, adding to their versatility with regard to suitable applications. Caspian commercial fan convectors can be floor or wall-mounted and also feature a tamperproof control panel to prevent misuse.
