Chiswick Park scoops double award

An office development in West London has been recognised for its outstanding approach to environmental best practice by winning two prestigious national awards in the space of a few days.

Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work, the office park developed by Stanhope which provides a workplace for almost 4,000 people, has been awarded Gold in the International Green Apple Awards for environmental best practice and sustainable development.

Organised by the Green Organisation, the Green Apple Awards are presented annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities driving projects that enhance the environment. Chiswick Park came out on top of 500 nationwide nominations, and were awarded trophy at the House of Commons at a ceremony hosted by the Rt Hon Patricia Hewitt MP.

The park will also be receiving a unique Green Hero Wall Shield during a special prize giving ceremony at the Tower of London and will be featured in the Green Book, the world’s only work of reference on environmental best practice.

Chiswick Park has also won Recycling Performance of the Year in the annual CIWM (Chartered Institute of Waste Management) Awards for Environmental Excellence.  The park beat off competition from local authorities and private companies and was secured in recognition of its commitment to sustainability and recycling. Over 90% of waste generated on the park is recycled.

Kay Chaston, Chief Executive of Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work said: “The responsibility of eco-management comes with the privilege of being in businesses. That’s our view and we take our responsibility seriously – as do the many industry leading companies who comprise our business community at Chiswick Park. Having recreated standard operating models, we are now delivering real progress in overall waste, chemical and carbon footprints. Our team will be building on these successes at every opportunity. We are delighted with these recognitions.”

Roger Wolens, national organiser for the Green Apple Awards, said: “Chiswick Park has demonstrated a serious commitment to the world around them and have invested substantially in a series of ground breaking initiatives which deserve this accolade. The office park sets a wonderful example which other business environments would be advised to follow.”
