Awards for Excellence seek nominations
SummitSkills, the Sector Skills Council for building services engineering, has launched its annual Awards for Excellence event and is seeking nominations to acknowledge the industry’s best craft, technical and professional engineers.
The event, formerly known as the National Training Awards for Building Services Engineering, recognises outstanding employees who have demonstrated exceptional standards of work and commitment to their role.
Winners will be invited to celebrate at an awards ceremony held at WorldSkills, the international skills competition that takes place this year in October at ExCeL, London.
In addition to categories for experienced mechanical and electrical workers, technicians and managers, an Environmental Excellence award will be given to someone who has made a significant contribution to the green agenda across the sector.
The award categories are:
Experienced Existing Worker of the Year (Mechanical)
Experienced Existing Worker of the Year (Electrical)
Technician Engineer of the Year
Happold Bursary
Alfred Manly Management Award
Professional Engineer of the Year (Ann Noblett Memorial Scholarship)
Environmental Excellence Award
Operative of the Year awards will also be presented in RAC, electrotechnical, H&V and plumbing categories to the respective winners of the 2011 SkillFRIDGE, SkillELECTRIC, SkillPIPE and SkillPLUMB competitions.
“The Awards for Excellence provide a fantastic opportunity for employers to thank members of their team and raise the profile of their business in the process,” said Neil Collishaw, Head of Skills Competitions and Awards at SummitSkills. “With WorldSkills as the stage for our awards ceremony, there really is no better platform to highlight the talent we have in our sector.”
The closing date for entries is 01 August 2011. For more information on the criteria for each category visit: www.summitskills.org.uk/awards.
